The Wind Horizon 100 ultrasonic anemometer provides excellent cost / performance ratio for the reliable measurement of horizontal wind speed and direction. With no moving parts and rugged stainless steel construction the Wind Horizon 100 is suitable for use in harsh conditions.

It is a highly reliable instrument due to the superior design, the ultrasonic measurement technology, the excellent repeatability of data and error accuracy and the data quality monitoring function which means you can concentrate on the data and not the sensor. Additional data such as virtual temperature is also available.

Data is available simply by connecting directly to a PC, however the sensor can also be connected to a number of other devices such as a data-logger.

What it does

The Wind Horizon 100 ultrasonic anemometer provides the following information in various data outputs which can be polled or output automatically:

• instantaneous and averaged data for the horizontal wind vectors
• horizontal wind speed and direction
• chart mode (provides 0-540º wind direction and speed values)
• NMEA value outputs

Data can be averaged by :

• scalar or vectoral
• clock synchronised or running average
• separate output rates and sampling times

Some other important features:

• user definable north orientation (range 0-359º alignment off axis)
• data quality control to perform confidence checks on raw data
• date / time stamps with several options
• check sum information
• calibration validity output monitoring

Every data string starts with a header line that consists of the string SNC followed by a space and 12 characters for the date/time stamp, another space and finally the UTC string i.e.:

SMP	the sampling rate in Hertz
AZI	the devise azimuth
SDQ	the sonic data quality
x	mean x wind component in the sensor related orthogonal co-ordinate system (parallel to the black arrow on the electronic box); unit m/s
y	mean y wind component in the sensor related orthogonal co-ordinate system (horizontally perpendicular to x); unit m/s
T	mean temperature; unit ºC
vel	mean horizontal wind velocity; unit m/s
dir	mean horizontal wind direction (depends on setting of parameter AZ); unit°
