GENERAL
Biral's mechanical cup and vane wind speed
and wind direction sensors are industrial grade instruments manufactured
by Thies Clima who have over 50 years experience and supply sensors to national weather
services and the WMO (World Meteorological Organisation).
Cup and vane sensors are the
traditional method of measuring wind and generally all cup and vane sensors should have
the following features:
- reliable measurement of horizontal wind speed and direction
- sensitive to small fluctuations in wind speed
- low maintenance
- provides good repeatability of data and decent error
accuracy
- models are available with digital and analogue interfaces
- can be interfaced / adapted to existing systems
In
addition the Thies Clima cup and vane sensors from Biral also feature:
- free-flowing due to high quality bearing
systems
- data can be polled, output automatically or
averaged
- First Class series sensors has a rugged,
durable aluminium construction suitable for all environments
- Compact series sensors provide excellent
cost / performance ratio
- Heating is available on most models
- high heating efficiency, where relatively
low power input is needed as only the key areas are heated when required which also avoids
unnecessary power loss
- various output configurations are available
for volume orders
