The First Class wind speed sensor is a mechanical cup anemometer
designed for the measurement of the horizontal component of the wind speed for
meteorological applications, environmental measuring technology, site evaluation and the
measurement of capacity characteristics of wind power systems. The sensor meets all the requirements of IEC 61400.121-CD for a first class instrument and has defined and optimised, dynamic behaviour even in high turbulence intensities as well as minimal over-speeding and a low starting value. The data is output as a digital signal and can be transmitted to recording instruments, computers, data loggers, process control systems and displays. If you are interested in a display please see the digital wind speed indicator listed under accessories below. For winter operation the instrument is equipped with electronically regulated heating which guarantees smooth running of the ball bearings and prevents the moving parts from icing-up. There are two versions available unheated and heated:
The First Class wind speed sensor has 3 rotating cups that move around a high quality bearing system providing a set amount of rotations for each wind speed. The amount of rotations are directly proportional to wind speed and this allows this sensor to be integrated into a wide variety of stations or logging systems. Examples of data output The data is output in the form of a rectangular Hz signal (example 1000 Hz at 50 m/s (112 mph)).
