Biral Aerosol Particle CollectorBiral, a UK company specialising in the design and manufacture of aerosol analysers and biodetectors, has launched a new aerosol particle collector for direct sampling of aerosol particles into a liquid medium. The Biral Aerosol Particle Collector (Biral APC) has applications in public health monitoring, environmental monitoring, basic research, aero-biology as well as security and defence.

The system has been designed to provide both highly efficient particle collection, and high levels of concentration in a very user friendly package. It includes options for batch, timed multi-batch and continuous collection. Sophisticated fluidic systems enable unattended operation for long periods with automated system monitoring and blockage removal.

In terms of effective collection the system improves significantly on existing designs by maximising the concentration in the liquid sample and improving the collection efficiency of smaller particles (around 1μm). It has a tamper proof design suitable for outdoor use and can operate in sub-zero temperatures.
